Her name was Dr. Joyce Hawkes. For years, until her passing in August 2023, Joyce, was my mentor. And if I were compelled to answer the question, “What was Joyce’s most important lesson,” it was to allow guidance. This lay at the heart of everything Joyce taught. It was the foundation, or cornerstone; and it has become a source of great wisdom.
How does it work? Simple. Take a few moments, and say to your Inner Guide, “I’m willing. Show me.” And what you’ll find is that sometime—perhaps later in the day or later that week—an intuition will drop into your consciousness. When this happens, it helps to be alert, because the intuition may not stay for long.
In my experience, this often happens when I’m outside walking our dog, Ollie. Several years ago, our daughter Jaime rescued Ollie. He’s incredibly sweet, loves to be outside, and loves being taken for a walk. Actually, he takes me for a walk, and this is so exciting to him that I try to let him be my take charge of our walk, as much as possible.
When out walking Ollie, if I have been saying to my Inner Guide, “I’m willing, show me,” it’s then that the guidance will drop in. And I will know—in my deep intuition—that I am being guided. And for me, this guidance makes all the difference. It’s a treasure.
Allowing Guidance is so important that I have placed it on my daily calendar. It’s something that I want to remember. And I commend it to you. For me, it’s Joyce’s most important lesson.
I wish you guidance and deep meaning on your journey.
